Collective Performance at 4bid Gallery (2026)
by Sara Pezzolesi with: Emily W. Bernstein, Nicolas Dagieu, Olesia GerasimenkoDeveloped during the first phase of the Otherwise Dataset research group, initiated by Sara Pezzolesi, this semi-improvisational performance enacted the group’s first publication, combining a multichannel soundpiece with a collective reading and a generative text projection system that transformed written material into evolving “DNA”-like visual forms. It was presented at 4bid Gallery (during the Sottovoce Publishing Evening), Amsterdam.
The Otherwise Dataset research group explores post-linguistic methodologies through biological processes, treating datasets not as stable archives but as living, evolving systems. Drawing on the regenerative capacities of Turritopsis dohrnii (the “immortal jellyfish”), the group approaches states of crisis as generative potential — working through phase-based biological protocols (alarm, gene silencing, transdifferentiation) as artistic structures for collective inquiry.
