Dreams of home, 2022

AI-generated photographs & image-to-image installation

Dreams of home reconstructs my lost ancestral community using the latest text-to-image and image-to-image technology. In this photographic installation, artificial intelligence is seen not as an apocalyptic foe, but as a humanitarian tool capable of retrieving lost memories and soothing the pain of lost identity.

Many families who emigrated from Eastern Europe at the turn of the 20th century had no tangible reminders of home upon leaving the Old World. Thus the AI-generated and altered photos in the installation, while inspired by my own family history, act as an altar in honor of all those who left home behind.
